We've created a list of questions and answers which we have either seen get asked frequently about other cat lounges, or ones we envision coming up frequently.
Can I bring my cat with me into the lounge?
No. We have very strict guidelines for our rescue partners to follow in order to ensure the health and well-being of all the kitties temporarily staying with us.

I can't keep my own cat anymore... Can I give him to you guys to put up for adoption?
No, but we can help give you information for various rescues that may be able to assist in re-homing your cat. We simply cannot allow any cats that have not been pre-screened by the SPCA to enter our cat lounge area.

So are you a cat cafe? What's the difference?
A cat cafe generally has 2 components: A cafe, where a larger variety of beverages and snacks are sold, and a cat lounge, where people bring in their purchased snacks and beverages to mingle with kitties. The Lily Pad Cat Lounge, of course, does have a cat lounge where people may come in and mingle with cats. However, instead of having a cafe component, we have a small storefront with pet supplies and cat-themed merchandise. There will be cold beverages, tea, and Keurig coffee available, as well as a small range of snacks and baked goods.

Aren't you just taking advantage of the cats? It sounds like a zoo!
Not at all - All the cats that are in the lounge are for adoption, which means that they are only with us until they can find their furever homes (Which hopefully isn't too long!). In the meantime, the cats get to enjoy lots of human interaction and playtime, and the humans get to enjoy time with the cats. We have a "cat haven" which is a cats-only zone where our feline friends can go when they no longer wish to grace us with their presence and need a break from the limelight.

Why is there an entry fee into the lounge?
Running a business is very expensive. The entry fee helps to cover the cost of running the lounge (lease, wages for staff, etc) and keeping the business going.

Do I have to pay the entry fee if I'm interested in a specific cat?
Yes. We require any potential adopters to come in to visit and interact with a cat before filling out any paperwork. We have found that many times, people will initially be interested in one cat, but end up filling out the paperwork for another.

Why should I go to the lounge instead of the SPCA shelter or another pet store to look at cats?
Please still go and visit cats at other rescues and stores! Some cats do not do well in smaller, enclosed areas and so the lounge offers a calm environment for them to show some of their true personality. Similarly, there are cats that simply would not so well in a large area with other cats and a wide range of people coming in, and these cats tend to stay in either foster homes, shelters, or pet stores until they're able to find their forever home.

I don't like Keurig/bottled drinks... Can I bring my own or one from somewhere else?
For the time being, we are not allowing drinks or food brought in from outside of the storefront.
